Welcome to Gymlab
We’re so glad your child is joining us. A first class is a big moment for a small person: a new hall, new faces, new things to try. There’s no right way to do it. Some children dive straight in, others like to watch for a while first, and both are a lovely start. Our coaches will help your child settle in at their own pace. Below you’ll find everything you need, for the first day and for the months ahead. If anything is unclear, just write to us at hello@gymlab.fit.
Finding us
Stratford, Chobham Academy
40 Cheering Lane, East Village, London E20 1BD
Our entrance is not the main school entrance that most maps show. The sports hall is on Temple Mills Lane, at the corner with Celebration Avenue: what3words.com/nights.wiser.dice. Stratford International is about five minutes’ walk away. There’s a paid car park opposite, but it isn’t run by the school or by Gymlab.
Islington, New Unity
277A Upper Street, London N1 2TZ
The nearest stations are Highbury & Islington and Essex Road. Parking on Upper Street is limited, so public transport is easiest.
Before the first class
Hair tied back and no jewellery
Shorts or leggings and a fitted t-shirt, with no dresses, skirts or tights, so your child can move freely and safely
Bare feet or grippy socks, as the floor is slippery in ordinary socks
A filled water bottle, as fountains aren’t always available
A trip to the toilet before class
Arriving 5–10 minutes early, so your child doesn’t miss the warm-up, which helps prevent injuries
The trial
You’re welcome to stay in the hall during the trial and see how your child gets on. If you need to move it, email us at hello@gymlab.fit before the class. Otherwise the place is lost and the trial can’t be refunded.
After the trial, your child’s membership starts automatically, so their place is kept for them. If you decide it’s not for you, just email memberships@gymlab.fit within 48 hours and we’ll cancel it and refund any payment taken.
Drop-off and pick-up
At regular classes, parents don’t come into the hall. It helps children focus, and it’s part of how they grow in independence. We’ll invite you in for our shows. Please bring your child to the hall and collect them there. Before and after class, including in the toilets and changing areas, children are in your care.
Your membership
Fees are taken automatically on the 1st of each month. They are currently £58 for one class a week, or £110 for two classes a week or two siblings.
The yearly fee is split into 11 equal monthly payments, so it stays the same in months with holidays. Missed classes aren’t refunded, and if we ever have to cancel a class, we’ll offer a replacement.
If a payment fails, we’ll try again during the month. A £5 late fee applies after the 5th, and the membership may be suspended until it’s paid. If things are difficult, please talk to us: we’d always rather find a way together.
The one-off £25 setup fee stays on your account while your child is with us. It is refunded when the membership ends, as long as you cancel in line with our terms.
Cancelling
To cancel, email memberships@gymlab.fit by the 20th of the month and wait for our confirmation. That month will be your last. If your email reaches us after the 20th, the following month is also due. We can only accept cancellations by email.
Dates and policies
Holidays, closures and shows are all in the calendar at the bottom of gymlab.fit. Our full club policy is at gymlab.fit/club-policy.
We look forward to meeting you both.
